My Job

I sometimes think my job is too easy! Ive learned to stand aside, and watch God work wonders in people’s lives in Bwambo Village, Tanzania, East Africa in dramatic ways. It’s such a wonderful thing to become a conduit of God’s love and to always be sure to give God the credit for any act of generosity that bears fruit.

I remember the first time my sister Sheila and I hosted a brunch to raise funds for the very first applicants to  the Woman-2-Woman Project. We were so excited to receive $1000 (10 small business grants). In our first meeting with women from Bwambo Village in November, 2010, we experienced the joy and the gratitude for the ten micro-loans we were able to give to ten women that first year.  We had no idea then, that just eleven years later, this women-led, women-run community called The Woman-2-Woman Project would grow into 125 small businesses.  These small loans have not only transformed the families of the loan recipients, but the entire village of Bwambo.  We had no idea that these 125 new women-run businesses would allow for over 1000 children to go to good schools, or that the homes of these families would now have roofs on their huts, and that these hard working entrepreneurs could purchase solar panels that provide electricity so children can study at night.

We began with an inspiration, that many of us in the America could change a family’s life by offering up, sacrificing, and gifting a mere $100-$500 to a woman who had a dream of starting a small cottage business.  The  community of loan-recipients meet every Sunday to discuss how their businesses are going and which new applicants are in the running for a micro-loan.  This community of hard-working women makes one realize that our small gifts of love and compassion can change families’ lives, and bring hope and healing to many.

St. Mother Teresa always said “to do little things with great love”. Those who have given to the Woman-2-Woman Project might not realized it, bu done great things with great

Thank you!
